Re: Speaker Isolation - pretty amazing results..

I installed Soundcare Superspikes under the Spendor A5 floorstanders in my lounge. It meant I no longer needed to worry the about spikes which had previously stood on granite chopping boards! I find they have opened up the sound somewhat. The cost was pretty cheap all things considered.

Re: how to flag spam

The difficulty is that @Robert is the only admin and he’s hardly ever here these days. The user lists suggests he was last logged in right at the beginning of January.

Re: Roon? No thanks.

You would be correct, no streaming services here. I have no wish to have to rely on an internet connection to watch TV or listen to music. And yes, I’m an old curmudgeon.

Roon? No thanks.

So I thought I’d take advantage of Roon’s 14 day free trial to see if it actually added anything to my listening experience. However on trying to sign up, I note that it’s one of those provide your credit card details and we won’t charge you for 14 days type of trials. Exactly the same as Amazon Pri...

F/S Synology 4 Bay NAS and Chord Hugo

Synology DS415+ 4 bay NAS - £200 plus postage of £25 fully insured. Complete with packaging and most of the items that came with it. I cannot locate the original screws for installing 2.5” drives so will include a suitable number of alternatives. They are not needed for 3.5” drives. Following the ac...

Re: I/C MFA baby classic - Black [SOLD]

The Freya is very good but I did notice a drop in the low end performance when I moved from my previous MFA to it. It’s always good to have an alternative on hand. :D I haven’t any idea what your pre-amp might be worth hence I asked what you were looking for. However I’ll give some thought as to a p...

Re: FLAC files on portable external drive problems

IIRC earlier versions of the firmware did not support FLAC. So firstly, if I were you, I’d test that the firmware version you have on the streamer supports FLAC by copying a couple of files onto a suitably formatted USB key. If that plays okay then you know it’s not the file format that’s the issue....

Re: Google Chromecast Audio

I have a couple bought when they were cheap but don’t use either. I tested one whilst I was without my Cyrus streamer many moons ago but since then it has sat on the side waiting for me to think about where to use it. I recall it was relatively easy to set up and use and sounded pretty good into my ...

Re: USB power supplies

Jason Stoddard, founder of Schiit, posted about this on Head-fi a few weeks ago as their latest product is powered by a micro USB socket. He said he had tested numerous ones and surprisingly the best he had tested were the ones Apple supply. His comment is in one of the Asides on post 38597 on this ...

Re: Cyrus Pre X

According to the vs series supplemental manual (which I found on HIFI Engine --> https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/cyrus/pre-x.shtml) it says the Pre Xvs is an update of the Pre X with a new amplifier design. The old Cyrusunofficial included this post --> https://www.rdhworld.co.uk/cu_arch/v...
