Re: Which peice of hifi gear nad you had the longest?

The oldest surviving part of my hifi is my cdp at about 11 years. Audio Research cd5, currently out of action because of broken spindle centre. Sourced a replacement from the USA and waiting for arrival. (Audio Research and the importers Absolute Sounds have been useless!)

Re: Recommend one book?

Charles Darwin wrote a couple of good books. Just wondering, have you read them? No, but I've read the bible (intended lower case) and the only way from there can be up. Not intended as a slight to anyone on here - particularly to you Chris, people are different and see things in different ways. I ...

Re: Wine recommendations

I like red. I also like white. Not keen on pink. Champagne - yes! Actually I am pretty ignorant of wines - the £6 (2 for £10) offerings in Iceland usually suffice. I would however pay a little more for Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and certainly occasionally a bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape for a special...

Re: are you on other hifi forums?

I don't do facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat and the likes. I lost interest with social media not long after it started. Now it seems like a lot of hassle I don't need to start getting interested in it all. I'm with you! I have no interest in social media of that sort. There are snapchat group...

Re: What vinyl did you spin recently?

Not vinyl, but links to the previous post, I just bought the original Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and the follow-up Mr. Wonderful - both on cd. What great albums!

Re: are you on other hifi forums?

I'm on the Wam and went to Kegworth twice. Never went to Scalford, though.
I don't go on any other hifi forums.

Re: Recommend one book?

It would have to be The Bible.

Preferably a modern English translation. New World Translation is free to read online or download at https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/ along with other translations; King James, American Standard, Byington.

Cyrus 1 or 3

This is probably a forlorn hope, but I am looking for a decent Cyrus 1 or Cyrus 3 (original series amps) in reasonable condition and at rock-bottom prices!
Has anyone got one in their sock drawer that they would part with?

Hopefully, Chris

Re: a petition that already has 3.3 million signatures

I try to stay politically neutral and be in favour of equality, however I have suffered under a female prime minister when I was in the mining industry (remember industry? When England had them) and now a prime minister who looks to be moving towards a complete breakup of the UK; driving Scotland fu...

The full ballet music or the suites? I love Prokofiev and the music for the full ballet is just so beautiful.

Re: 17 March 2019 Kegworth - wam show

Yes it was good to meet and put faces to names in the (rather small) CU gathering at 12noon in sunbeamgls' room at Kegworth. I don't know quite why but I expected more CUers to be at the show! The Isoplat display was impressive, Neil. Lovely to see them still in use. I too liked the speakers you had...

Re: Roon? No thanks.

I would not worry with Roon. If it was difficult to cancel then there would be lots of complaints on their forum. So those of you who would never give out your CC details for a trial must have no streaming services. As far as I remember Netflix, HBO, Spotify, Tidal, Qubuz all require CC ;) And I us...
