Re: Cyrus All In One Options

I'd have none of that new-fangled streaming/Chromecast/Spotify/DAB nonsense!

How about a Cyrus Quattro with "proper" radio in the form of the optional FM receiver card? Ok - not a truly all-in-one solution, as you need an amp - but an XPA should do that cheaply enough...

Re: Sonic Boom required for floor standers

If you want a more precise midrange, you may need to consider speakers with a true 3-way design. I've done that recently - going from a PMC 2-way speaker to an ATC 3-way one (both floorstanders), and the midrange is the part that is very noticeably different - as perhaps you should expect!

Re: Cyrus PSX-R conversion to 110v

It may be best to speak to Cyrus directly. I've looked at this before, and from (very vague) memory I think it may require a replacement transformer, at least on the later ones. This may involve the standard service charge - but you really would need to ask Cyrus about that. Please let us know what ...

Re: Cyrus ONE at Richer Sounds

Richer's website is like that all the time - their offers change on a daily basis. I suspect they will also have been raising their prices in anticipation of next weekend's sales!

Re: Cyrus DAB 8

You can try contacting them, but if you look in the "Support" section of the Cyrus website, it is shown as "no longer supported". The DAB 8.0 was released in 2006/2007 when, IIRC, the UK had no firm plans for DAB+, so I'm sorry to say that it would be very surprising indeed if an...

£2,200 per meter pair, retail?

IIRC, the most I've ever paid for speaker cable was £2.50/m!

Re: What Speaker cable are we all using

Gale XL315 - IIRC a Richer Sounds only product, and great value - you get a lot of copper for your money compared to most alternatives!

On the monos I use the same but doubled up and kept as short as possible.

Or a more direct link as it seems to be quite hard to find!: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-45645587 It hadn't really occurred to me just how much the electricity networks would have been designed - and worked fine for many decades - as a "centre outward" network with relatively fe...

Re: 32 bit DAC and External Power Supply

It would probably be a good idea to post a link to what features it has. I did a search for "Breeze Audio 32 bit DAC" and nothing of any interest came back, so I couldn't find its spec with any ease.

The remote may be broken - but read the manual, and then read it again, just in case.

Re: Cyrus MR3 issues

Mainly the RF remote! On mine, they had chosen a frequency range that is no longer used for that type of device, and it was very prone to interference, so range was poor. It also very regularly lost the association between remote and base unit, and resyncing every day or so was a pain, as the proced...

It was essentially a good product, but undermined by some serious design flaws, sadly.

Re: Cyrus MR3 issues

The sockets will probably be 3mm banana - Cyrus used these just before they moved to BFA. You can still get plugs cheaply on Ebay, or expensively via an audio parts seller.

Re: Two sources into one set of speakers

Afraid not - you can't (or at least shouldn't try to) connect two amps to one set of speakers without a switch, to ensure that they cannot be electrically connected at the same time. Switching boxes aren't too expensive though. I doubt a true audiophile would consider using one, but I personally dou...

Re: mint atc scm40 2400

That seems about the right price currently - it's what I paid for mine (identical to your friend's) a few months ago. Must say I'm very pleased with them - they have a midrange like nothing I've owned before (having never previously owned any speakers costing more than a few hundred quid!).
