Re: Large CD Collection For Sale

Thank you for confirming what I thought. Most of the CD's I test scanned on Music Magpie are in the 25p area, but some are obviously rare as they're being offered £1.50+.

Large CD Collection For Sale

My brother-in-law died two years ago leaving behind a large and varied CD collection. Now that my sister is moving house she tasked me with either taking them away as my own, or selling them on. I'll keep the ones that match my tastes, but he had such a wide and varied taste that there are still hun...

Re: Which peice of hifi gear have you had the longest?

I had my Cyrus MonoX and DAC-XP+ for 3 or 4 years I think. But the Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Baby Grand speakers were 4 or 5 years. I've only been back in the home hifi "game" for the last 8 years so I'm not the best example for owning kit a long time!

Re: Roon and Cyrus

There is a much cheaper alternative to buying an expensive Roon core and that's to build your own using an Intel NUC or other headless computer. The Roon site has full instructions for doing this along with links to Amazon for the kit if you want to buy from there. I built one last year, it took abo...

Re: Roon and Cyrus

Perhaps it's the Cyrus One that could get a firmware update to add Rune. As mentioned already the current Streamers don't seem to have any spare capacity to add new features. Joe, I use an Oppo 4K player as an end point with digital out to my DAC. Roon is very good, not just the new music you'll fin...

Re: Naiming and shaming

Congratulations, the upgrade from MonoX is significant. As well as revealing more detail they'll grip your speakers so much better. Great purchase.

Re: DAC recommendations for CDXt signature ?

When is the Homesound opening ? It quotes "early 2019" on the website, but can't find any more info. Sounds like Nick has left Homesound now though, according to another Forum his Linkedin profile now reads "" Pressed the pause button and cueing up the next track." I though...

Re: DAC recommendations for CDXt signature ?

2 dealers close to me (HiFi Corner and Homesound) are now sister companies, and at the present time are based in the same premises, so I can demo various Chord DACs against a Benchmark 3. I believe Hi-Fi Corner bought out Homesound around 2-3 years ago. I was down for a demo at Homesound and Nick, ...

Re: are you on other hifi forums?

I dip into Audio Abattoir from time to time, but as mentioned its more of a banter between friends (or not!). Some of the thread titles are priceless. Not a forum, but hifi-related and sometimes very informative, is PS Audio's CEO Paul McGowan's daily YouTube channel "Ask Paul". Another I ...

Re: New Cyrus QXR DAC Module

lanchashirelad had confirmation from Cyrus that DACXP SIg is still the best DAC. The DAC XP Sig is limited to 24 bit, 192 kHz, has no USB input and doesn't play DSD. Perhaps the Sig gives better sound quality on a like for like input. For example if both the Sig and QXR play a 24/192 track via a di...

Re: New Cyrus QXR DAC Module

Hopefully so for the Stream XP owners who fancy the upgrade. A call to a Cyrus dealer should confirm one way or the other. However I can't help but think if the upgrade was possible the marketing team would have added it to the list. A bit of a miss otherwise!

Re: New Cyrus QXR DAC Module

As for the Stream XP2 QX, although not explicitly listed I would expect it to be included. The Cyrus site says all “amps” with a QX card. I don't know, but if the Stream XP2 QX is a single printed circuit board with the QX DAC circuit integrated onto it, then it may not be on the list. To me it loo...
