Re: New Cyrus QXR DAC Module

lanchashirelad had confirmation from Cyrus that DACXP SIg is still the best DAC. The DAC XP Sig is limited to 24 bit, 192 kHz, has no USB input and doesn't play DSD. Perhaps the Sig gives better sound quality on a like for like input. For example if both the Sig and QXR play a 24/192 track via a di...

Re: New Cyrus QXR DAC Module

Hopefully so for the Stream XP owners who fancy the upgrade. A call to a Cyrus dealer should confirm one way or the other. However I can't help but think if the upgrade was possible the marketing team would have added it to the list. A bit of a miss otherwise!

Re: New Cyrus QXR DAC Module

As for the Stream XP2 QX, although not explicitly listed I would expect it to be included. The Cyrus site says all “amps” with a QX card. I don't know, but if the Stream XP2 QX is a single printed circuit board with the QX DAC circuit integrated onto it, then it may not be on the list. To me it loo...

New Cyrus QXR DAC Module

What HiFi are reporting a new Cyrus rus DAC module - https://www.whathifi.com/amp/news/cyrus-announces-qxr-dac-upgrade-for-its-amplifier-range. Its not available for the XP or XP+ however looking at the list. I assume however a new flagship model may come soon to replace these, with an upgrade fee f...

Re: tagging, computers - shouting

A vote for mp3tag on Windows. I tag all my FLAC files that way. Of course you could use the sledgehammer approach and get Roon, it will do everything for you.

They're quite tall but very slim and elegant. Considering how much bass they unearth they are actually small!

Re: PMC Fact 12

I auditioned a set of these 2 years ago and was mightily impressed. If I'd had the money at that time I would have bought them. Have you managed to tear yourself away from listening to music through them yet? 8) Of course, now you have speakers of this reference calibre, thoughts will no doubt, turn...

Re: Custom Roon Server

Don’t Roon list various Nucleus build options, with amazon links to the components on the Roon forums? I cant check at the moment, but I seem to remember they were pretty helpful in that regard. Yes they do. I built an Intel NUC using Roon Core OS using the instructions on their site. Its based on ...

They've been around for a long time but I'd never heard of them or their music till last year. Thank you Tidal subscription for allowing me to find them.

Re: Do you have a hifi bucket list?

I'd love to hear my hifi in an acoustically perfect listening room so I know how good it could be, then have a team of experts treat my actual listening room to make it as close to the ideal as possible. Other than that, no real bucket list, just a continuing desire to hear better and better music r...

Re: AV receiver recommendations sub-£1000 ?

A ticklist of features isn't necessarily the only guide you should use. For example, many receivers may have 4K upscaling but it can be awful on cheaper models. If you have a good 4K TV you can simply pass the signal through and let the TV do the upscaling instead. That's just one feature where ther...

Re: AV receiver recommendations sub-£1000 ?

would i be right in thinking that the AV amp will be under less strain if only driving 3 speakers i.e centre and rear That's what I'm hoping someone will be able to shed some light on for me... Remember that the speakers are rated at 4ohm... It depends on the receiver. If it uses a common power sup...
