Re: PMC Fact 12

I hadn't heard of the PMC Cor till you mentioned it. Looks like a very good value amp, and you would imagine it matches well with the Fact 12 if they were demo-ing the Sig's at the World's largest trade show on the back of it! Fanthorpes stock them and they usually do home demos do they not? And of ...

Re: PMC Fact 12

Good to hear you're enjoying the Signature model Joe. I know you've said you don't ponder a more powerful amp at the moment, but the Fact 12 is a very low sensitivity speaker rated at 84 dB so I would imagine really craves power. I'd be tempted to at least get a demo of something a little more power...

Re: Second Hand Turntable Advice

Ian, Chris, thank you for the suggestions. I'm not sure about a phono input on the Roksan, I'll need to ask him. Just as well you pointed that out Ian, I wouldn't necessarily have thought about that. Vinyl cleaning may well be needed with an old collection, but he doesn't have a TT of any kind at th...

Second Hand Turntable Advice

One of my neighbours has some vintage kit - an old Roksan Kandy amp, and ProAc bookshelf speakers when they were still called Celef. He wants to get his old vinyl collection back in action but he doesn't have much money to spend. I suggested second hand but I have no experience of TT's since about 1...

Re: The future of this forum

As ever Neil, when you decide to fill your inkwell full of somewhat poisonous ink and dip your quill into it, some interesting verbiage emerges... You decry the contributors for not penning sufficient "substantive" posts and yet prior to this "contribution" have posted only twice...

Re: Class D amps move up a level

As someone who has Focal 1008be speakers fed by a pair of Ncore NC400 power amps, I struggle to recognise the sound quality that this combination is supposed to yield. To my aged ears they sound fine, but I guess I might have lost the ability to hear the higher frequencies. Have you tried listening...

Re: Class D amps move up a level

Many years ago I really wanted to demo some focal diablo utopias . Focal would not allow me to do so as i had class d ref 1000 and they did not think they would sound their best. Things have moved on now so hopefully they would allow That's an utterly ridiculous stand for them to take IMHO. I imagi...

Re: Class D amps move up a level

I've heard a variety of amps over the years and have had two Class D amps of my own, the Anthem Statement M1 and my current amp, the Primare A60. I can't say I'm a great believer in "Class D" sounds this way, "Class A" sounds that way, "Class A/B" that way, Valves yet a...

Re: Showcase

i’m surprised that they don’t make them so you can have bass drivers facing each other. but i guess this is because every speaker is the same, not a left and right pair i find it funny in a way that i’ve never seen these speakers with anything but thick cable O0 i assume you get a good trade in too...

Well, as night follows day, having enjoyed the Boenicke W11's for 2 glorious years, I was tempted... Boenicke W13 SE. In the photos below it was during the home demo from Elite Audio. I had coasters on the floor marking the position where the glass plinths the speakers sit on normally go back to. I ...

Re: Advice on pricing - VABBG

I agree, if the damage is so low it won't show in a photograph then you're good! The finish on the VABBG piano black is beautiful so post some pictures when you sell and that should just about do it

Re: Advice on pricing - VABBG

with the superficial damage will they be hard to sell at this price Do you have pictures you can post showing the damage? Unless its significant, or in a place that stands out, it shouldn't reduce the price that much. The price you're asking is certainly low for VA BBG in the current market from wh...

Re: Advice on pricing - VABBG

Having owned both the VA Beethoven Baby Grand and Concert Grand with Cyrus electronics these speakers are a great match. I also matched them with Anthem Statement M1 power amps so know they are capable of unearthing great detail and huge amounts of bass. I had the same piano black finish and they ar...

Re: Tannoy Eaton Legacy standmount speakers

;D they do indeed !!! next time you are passing pop in and have a listen [ unless i have been seduced by elite audio who have just taken on verity audio ] Yes I saw that. A very interesting loudspeaker brand, they certainly get great reviews. I've never heard them but I'm going to be down in the El...

Re: Serious speaker help!

Sorry Chris!

And yes, I suspect the speaker/room interaction and the lack of wiggle room in being able to make positioning and/or furnishing changes will be the largest factor, not that the PMC's lack mid/treble. However, if he can test the speakers in a different room that may reveal more.
