Re: Does the Naim Uniti Core work with Cyrus?

It’s just upnp isnt it? In which case it shouldnt matter what the streamer is, as long as that also supports upnp.

Re: SonyPi - bringing an 80's "boombox" into the 21st C

bit of a tight fit in that battery compartment! mostly the wires as the sockets for the pi are on different sides - the makers didnt plan that well! actually I'm surprised someone hasnt created an "all sockets" panel mount kit for the pi, i had to do it with 3 separate bits. https://c1.sta...

Re: SonyPi - bringing an 80's "boombox" into the 21st C

It's finished! Panel mount usb socket arrived today and it's fitted and screwed back together again. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4502/37744749476_68c6f5c78e_b.jpg couldnt find a shorter interconnect (1.5 metres!), and did consider somewhow connecting from pi to line in sockets internally, but at l...

Re: Building a Raspberry Pi system from scratch

Liking the look of the Sony Robert - have you done anything specific to turn it on and off? Dietpi sounds interesting but without reading everything - does it shut down nicely if power is removed or is it still in the SD card may be corrupted if not shut down in software camp? Hi, dietpi is quite h...

Re: Building a Raspberry Pi system from scratch

Not direct from the phone. The "sonypi" works as a roon endpoint, supports airplay, and also plays from usb. For the latter, I can ssh into the pi to control moc, just using an ssh app on my phone. I could have installed jriver mc and used jremote on my phone but I didnt need that amount o...

Re: SonyPi - bringing an 80's "boombox" into the 21st C

These new speakers - despite being smaller and costing £6 each inc vat, the p&p was more than that - sound *so* much better!

Re: SonyPi - bringing an 80's "boombox" into the 21st C

Baffle close up Had to cut round holes in the four corners (ish) to go around the original speaker fixing posts. Washers from my box of spare bits (that brass one was rescued from a broken electric shower - I always rescue screws and washers!) The second baffle for the left hand speaker (this one is...

Re: SonyPi - bringing an 80's "boombox" into the 21st C

New speakers fitted - very pleased how this turned out. Ended up cutting baffles from plywood, with 70mm circular cut outs, and attaching the speakers to this with m4 bolts, sitting proud by 2 "nuts" depth so they would be forward of the original plastic baffle. Therefore requiring less de...

Re: SonyPi - bringing an 80's "boombox" into the 21st C

Replacing the speakers: the challenge here was finding a full range (low Hz to 20kHz) 4 ohm speaker that was dinky enough to fit where the old ones were. Had to be shallow max 40mm deep and with a magnet that wasnt too large. In the end found Monacor SP8/4 round version - a 3" speaker, 90 mm ac...

Re: SonyPi - bringing an 80's "boombox" into the 21st C

There's not a whole lot of space in there! Started by snipping out the ridge that went between the batteries left to right, and removed the right hand spring as it was fouling the panel mounted power lead. Also had to break up into dead space above the battery compartment to get the pi high up enoug...
