Re: Cyrus components failing

generally it seems that power amp problems are rare did you buy the amps brand new? One of the benefits of buying s/h on CU is you are likely to get kit that has been looked after. otherwise you never know how ventilated, or how carefully kit has been treated. i know kit does not like being moved ar...

I/C Project record cleaning machine

It has been in a box for a year, before that used to clean 700 records I would be keeping it but I now have a neurological condition, I wouldn’t trust myself to use it and not damage my records sometimes because simple tasks now need a lot of concentration I am now off work Given that it makes such ...

Re: Naiming and shaming

what cart are you using in your rega? I think its just the Elys2? that came with it Chris... TBH, it hasn't had much use of late - life has got in the way a bit. it’s good if life gets in the way. i asked because one of the best value upgrades i’ve ever made is moving from the elys2 to my current o...

Re: AG500 AC regen - still a bargain

mmm not if power amps dont do well on conditioners , might strangle dynamics perhaps . i guess only way is to try one I think the point of a re gen is that it isn’t a conditioner. These AG are designed for lower amp age gear ( computers) so no one should expect them to work well on power amps For m...

Great subject and comments! I say just Nord it Did you go X300sigs? If not Nords do come up ever one or two months s/h on eBay. Nord are now doing a new version MKII, so perhaps more will become available. I have to say I'm very impressed with my DAC XP+ with PSX-R2 feeding Nord. It's far above 2 x...

Re: Advice - Link power amplifier and 8a integrated amp

my understanding is the link power is a smartie without psxr port No - it's a development of the XPA. Lower output than the Smartpower, no Mono mode and as you say, no PSX-R connection. Commonly used for rear/surround channels on AV systems, they had signal sensing from the start of production. but...

Re: Advice - Link power amplifier and 8a integrated amp

my understanding is the link power is a smartie without psxr port. it is only worth it if you have bi-wireable speakers. i added a q power and later a smartpower to an 8xpd, to bi amp. I noticed more separation, better imaging. Don’t expect a huge improvement but i think it is worth while. but bette...

Re: Google Chromecast Audio

I have a couple bought when they were cheap but don’t use either. I tested one whilst I was without my Cyrus streamer many moons ago but since then it has sat on the side waiting for me to think about where to use it. I recall it was relatively easy to set up and use and sounded pretty good into my...
