Signing off

Been a pleasure ( good people, good advice but I have moved on). The reason for this ( last?) post is that I now have a system that IN MY ROOM and given MY TASTE, that is just brilliant. Not updated recently so - Melco. Michell Orb. Nord Stereo. Hattor Passive/tube Pre and ATC 19’s.
Thanks. Goodbye.

Re: are you on other hifi forums?

Shame and a pity. I will own up, I PP'd Robert 6 months or so ago and suggested a larger remit. This is a good, friendly forum which has elicited some excellent advice but Cyrus have lost the plot and as they wither so does this forum. Some excellent contributors have moved on from Cyrus gear and li...

Re: NORD responds to to those who say their amps are too cheap

I have just had my Nord ND500 upgraded with the new REV board. I was reluctant because I did not think the amplifier could be materially improved and the upgrade is not cheap (£720). Wrong. Clearly heard improvements all round. Oh and Colin at Nord gives/gave the best customer care I have ever exper...

Re: Naiming and shaming

I had X200’s. Very good but not a patch on my Nord. Two friends have recently demo’d (separately). Naim Atoms. Both brought them, one with KEF 50’s the other PMC 21’s. I had Naim 250 years ago so probably not what Naim sounds like now. Loved them with Isobariks. If there is a problem with Naim, for ...

Re: HiFi Show Live, Windsor

Excellent review. I went today and would only disagree a bit. For me the TD510’s were excellent and I am considereing buying them ( but I am 68 and my hearing is not what it was - frequency extremes). No mention of the Absolute Sounds demo’s. Wilson Speakers sounded fabulous with thousand of pounds ...

No contest. Buy avShiit (yes honestly). Excellent headphone amps and very reasonable cost. Direct only. Google them

Re: A last, long goodbye to Cyrus

I will argue to the ends of the earth that cables make a (demonstrable) difference. BUT TWO GRAND? Different world to the one I inhabit PS Please note that you can now spend the same on mains cables - guessing you will need at least four at two thousand seven hundred each, if after your purchase you...

Mains Lead

I have just read a review of the new ISO3 mains lead. It costs £2750. ( yes £2750). My question is ‘ if I use it to plug in my kettle will my tea taste better?’

Re: Time to ponder

OK. Too short a post. My system is in a room very similar in size to yours. I used PMC 21's successfully and now AE1's (better IMO) The issue is bass output. Most (all?) floorstanders give to much which sets up standing waves that overwhelm the room. Some Stand Mounts will do the same, broadly speak...

Heard Anntonine’ ‘Phones. I am a ‘don’t like in ear ‘phones’. I even had Snugs made for me, very impressive but got loose quickly meaning I had to hold them in to get any bass at all. Tried RHA and reviewed them here. If they fit they are very good but for me Bose noise canx over ear hold sway for t...
