Re: Tidal HiFi - 60 Day Trial

crime of the century by supertramp , i found differences between the 16 bit versions Cant comment as it’s highly unlikely I will ever listen to Supertramp 8) Minicoupman was visiting and weI did a little experiment with Alone Again Or by love. I have the CD on my NAS, Tidal has MQA version and non ...

Re: Tidal HiFi - 60 Day Trial

I don’t have an MQA compatible DAC, but do have Tidal. My Auralic Aries can unpack MQA and send the files to the TT. After lots of idle playing around, I can say that there is very rarely any difference in the MQA version and the CD quality non MQA version. One if the problems with Tidal is there ar...

Re: ATC SM40 - connection query

Thanks for that Ian. I have ATC SCM40's and love them. Can they be upgraded or is it a complete new buy? It’s s new buy. Keep your eyes peeled and if your lucky a pair may turn up used. Very rare though. Worth approaching dealers too. When I was demoing before I purchased mine I was offered a stagg...

Re: ATC SM40 - connection query

I can’t help with the cabling. I would suggest however, if you are willing to invest in a second pair of X300s, you’d probably be better off investigating the active version of your speakers.

Re: mfa baby reference

It’s getting harder and harder to sell things. I see an 8XPD went for £375 on eBay this week. Emporium May indeed have made an error, it’s just as likely they need stock to move and have priced it likewise. Either way, I quite fancy trying an MFA pre in my setup, just for fun, not quite ready at the...

Re: Please give me your reviews on streamers

I don’t think there are really any bad sounding streamers out there nowadays, they’re all pretty good. It’s down to yo7 whether you find one too analytical or otherwise in your system. For me, the differentiator is Utility. Formats supported, the control app, and the philosophy for how the streamer ...

Re: Tomorrow

I will be voting too. In doing so I will try to select those who can best represent our interests for the time we are still in the EU, i.e the job of MEPs. While it's an opportunity to also express an opinion, it's important to consider the outcome of this election is not about Brexit - that is a m...

Re: Which peice of hifi gear nad you had the longest?

Marantz amp and Monitor Audio speakers I bought when working in Saudi around 2007/8. When i left that job I shipped everything back and gave it to my dad. It’s still in my parents living room. I did have some Tannoy M15 speakers and some Technics separates from around 1986 which I sold about 3 years...

Re: Roon and Cyrus

Innuos are supposed to sound superb. Whereas hardware from Roon and the various NUCs intended to just run the server are supposed to not have any influence on sound at all. (My local dealer who stocks both Roon hardware and Innuos begged to differ, he insisted Roon core must have some influence, his...

Re: Speaker suggestions

lot of fans for the atc but i find them bright I wouldn’t put ATC and bright in the same sentence, but each to their own. I’m not a fan of B&W, I find their larger speakers in particular a bit of a bully. But they are popular so..... I think their are lots of options for the OP. As B&W are ...

Re: Roon and Cyrus

Even if your a serial upgrader, this is a forced upgrade, rather than a choice. And then, good luck trying to recoup some of the costs selling a device everyone knows is on life support because the manufacturer has decided to stop supporting it.

Re: Roon and Cyrus

I was thinking more along the lines of, my iPad breaks so I buy a new which comes with IOS 20 or whatever the version is at the time. I install all my apps and discover this version of Lightning DS no longer supports the Aries. The last version to support the Aries was on iOS 18. It’s not possible t...

Re: Roon and Cyrus

The issue I have is price. These devices are getting awfully expensive now. Auralic G2 series are what, £4K more or less. Innuos’ top Zennith is £10k. These devices are essentially headless computers. Unlike traditional hifi separates, their lifespan is somewhat limited by the legacy support that wi...

Re: Roon and Cyrus

I'm considering moving to an Innuos Zennith purely for the Roon core feature. You’re not alone. If the dealers I frequent and the industry press is anything to go by, Innuos are the players to be with atm. It’s certainly the direction I would go in if I were inclined to spend more money on my setup...
