Re: Chord Qutest

I'm tempted to upgrade my 2Qute to either the Qutest or the Hugo TT2. Huge price difference between those two, obviously. Just waiting for an opportunity to trial them both in my system and compare.

However, even the 2Qute is superb in my system, especially into the Trilogy. 8)

Once again, that's both generous & evil.

Re: A last, long goodbye to Cyrus

Have any of you got a mate to swap between cables though, and tried to repeatedly tell which was which? If they make a difference it would be ten times out of ten? Yes and no. I roped my wife in to be my mate for a couple of hours blind testing. I actually wore a blindfold. My score was 19 out of 2...

Very interesting. Let us know how it was, please.

Completely agree.
If not madness, surprising.

Fair enough but for the sake of clarity, a galvanically isolated USB will adequately replace an optical link.

Re: hi fi plans for 2018

Hmm. All very mysterious. I'm not sure why the addition of some silver wire and a transformer into the signal path 'improves' SQ. But I don't deny that there are plenty of people who agree that it does. Including the DAVE+MFA people, who I have spoken with. It suggests that the MFA is filtering out ...

Re: hi fi plans for 2018

I had the convenience of leaving my MFA at 12 o'clock and using the Hugo remote. I powered it on in low volume mode and didn't have to turn it up much so fixed mode wouldn't have given me much control at all if I had to use the knob. Hmm, interesting, thanks Joe. For me, the MFA is a very expensive...

Have ordered the £30 isolator and cables processor to play with, Ill report back anything positive !

Fair point. It's the Chord 2Qute.
Please do let us know how it goes with the isolator. Interesting.

Re: Old silent PC recommendation.

I use a Zotac Zbox nano silent, fanless, heatsink based PC with small SSD. Cheap & works well. I have a NAS in a different room. how much do they cost? link? does it do video streaming to? Prices vary across the range and between suppliers. I spent £350. If you Google Zotac Zbox nano, you can't...

Re: hi fi plans for 2018

So basically they all have variable output voltage but the Qutest has set levels 2V, 3V.. The 2Qute has a fixed output only. Unlike most Chord DACs there is no volume control, which I like. I already have a preamp. My interest in the different 'fixed' output levels is, as callen24 suggests, purely ...
