Re: Connecting pre to bridged mono power amps

This issue is familiar and we have discussed it in the past so there may be something in the archive. Connection of unbalance to balanced amplifier input is covered in detail by Hypex in their input configuration of the hypex N Core with clear diagrams as to how to wire the interconnect cable. This ...

Re: Cyrus PRE or ACA7

I have failed to get any response to my request for tech info on the ACA7 from across a few forums My project is abandoned and I will progress with a DIY pre amp build based on a relay switch, Buffer, Resistor Attenuator, Buffer and conversion to Balanced then a Line Driver. Power supply is already ...

Re: Cyrus PRE or ACA7

Yes your right the PRE uses a motorised volume control, and there are a few comments on the net about reliability issues and availability of spares. An ACA7 may be a better bet but Im reluctant to line up a relatively heavy set of mods without a circuit. Ill trawl a while to see if I can pick one up...

Cyrus PRE or ACA7

I have been looking for an old CYRUS PRE to rebuild as pre amp to drive Ncore balanced input amps. To date nothing has appeared (other than the dreaded ebay where one just sold for 3 times its real value !) Im broadening my search to include an ACA7.5 I have full info on the old pre and despite what...

Re: Class D amps move up a level

I moved from MonoX to classD many years ago to Hypex UcD, the first range they produced. The Hypex outperformed my mono X and quite a few on the forum moved to them. I switched to Hypex N Core shortly after they were introduced and they were a clear improvement on the UcD. I have 3 sets of Ncores in...

Class D amps move up a level

Bruno has improved his N Core with the introduction of the Purifi 1et 400a Amplifier. Not sure how it will be sold and whether we will be able to buy the modules for DIY. https://www.purifi-audio.com/about Nord seem to have a few modules measures extremely well. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/fo...

Re: PM - Subscription

Welcome to the forum.
I would like to add to the list of questions that jules and callen asked

Do you want to stay with Cyrus ?

I note you want to reduce your footprint and you have 3 PSXR's which could be sold on if you buy gear that doesnt need additional power supplies

Re: Serious speaker help!

Having had a look at your photo,I have to agree with Frederico. Glass and sound don't go well together. I wouldnt rush to spend any more cash on amps or speakers Do you have any form of curtains or soft blinds? Can you hang temorary covers over the glass to try and absorb the high frequencies ? Can ...

Re: Serious speaker help!

This might help you. .https://electronics.howstuffworks.com/how-to-explain-speaker-sensitivity.htm You have selected two speakers of different design philosophy, almost 3db difference in sound level output for the same input and different amplifier load impedance 6 Ohm versus 8 Ohm Your Cyrus amp is...

Re: Hifi made in Britain

Yes there are a few excellent Hi Fi and Pro Sound manufacturers in the UK. Over the last 20 yrs weve seen a movement towards designing in the UK and manufacturing in the far east, hopefully that is now in decline as some UK companies are setting up electronic (PCB) manufacturing facilities that prov...

Re: Topping DACs. The D50 in use.

Remember its a forum. The measurement work is done by a few who have or have access to the equipment needed. The manufacturers who are interested in having their gear openly tested supply units for test, or its units bought by members. I conclude that these are the manufacturers interested in sellin...
