Re: Hifi made in Britain

Yes there are a few excellent Hi Fi and Pro Sound manufacturers in the UK. Over the last 20 yrs weve seen a movement towards designing in the UK and manufacturing in the far east, hopefully that is now in decline as some UK companies are setting up electronic (PCB) manufacturing facilities that prov...

Re: Topping DACs. The D50 in use.

Remember its a forum. The measurement work is done by a few who have or have access to the equipment needed. The manufacturers who are interested in having their gear openly tested supply units for test, or its units bought by members. I conclude that these are the manufacturers interested in sellin...

Topping DACs. The D50 in use.

A few months ago I was revamping my office system, I gave my Hypex N Core and Benchmark DAC1 HDR to a family member and proceeded to look for cheaper alternatives. Bought a Cyrus amp and a Dacmagic - but ouch. That didnt work for me. Started looking for a S/H quality DAC but nothing came up that sat...

Re: What are the advantages of separately powering your tweeters?

Walking through the Hypex options these days is not simple. Their product range has expanded and they seem to have separated their DIY options from their OEM options sold to other manufacturers which is their mainstream business. The ability to house 3 amps on one board has been avaiable for years w...

Re: Check this out.

Thanks for this information. I had noticed a few weeks ago photos of the new Cyrus One amps being built by a contractor. Could have been SMS? I think to survive in todays fast changing electronics scene a small specialist manufacturer has to subcontract or have an association with a production facil...

Re: ATC SM40 - connection query

Ive been using ATC scm40 for some time now with Mono X then Hypex Ucd and now with Hypex Ncore400. Im getting superb results with My Benchmark DAC2 driving my Ncore400s Balanced with the amps positioned immediately behind my speakers. The speakers are tri wired from 3 separate outputs on the Ncore e...

Re: Roon and Cyrus

... This is a completely different agenda for hifi compared to the traditional decisions surrounding amps/speakers/ Players..... I keep saying that - anyone can buy a CD player and shove in a CD, but how are they going to keep up with what is getting more and more technical by the minute.. Totally ...

Re: The New Cyrus ONE being made elsewhere ?

Cyrus aint as big a company as I had thought. Never been near their premises
Appreciate them using 3rd parties to stuff PCB's using current technology.
At least they are being assembled in the UK !

Re: are you on other hifi forums?

Im not a fan of social media and simply dont use it. In 2017 I got very heavily involved modding technics 1200's and used the Art of Sound forum Techiepedia Section. 2018 saw me out of action for most of the year due to illness. Returning to an almost normal life saw me return to A of S and promise ...

Re: DAC recommendations for CDXt signature ?

I have used Benchmark for a quite few years now. They are excellent performers and well reviewd on the net. Seriously outpeformed my Cyrus DAC XP at the time I purchased my first DAC1HDR. You should be able to pick up a s/h DAC2 as its recently been replaced by the DAC3. There is little sonic differ...
