Re: Lost bass and "scracthy" sound

Here you go. RESTORING FACTORY SETTINGS You can also restore all configuration options to the initial default settings that were applied at the factory. NOTE: This operation is not reversible. To restore factory settings, disconnect mains power from the unit. Now reconnect mains power while holding ...

Re: Lost bass and "scracthy" sound

First off do a factory reset on the DAC XP. I've had a couple of weird things that were fixed by this.

I think you do it by switching the DAC off, press the standby button while you switch it back on but if that doesn't work check the manual - I can do that later if you haven't got the manual.

I would agree Chris, the Stream Sig is a serious bit of kit not complementary.

Re: Cyrus All In One Options

What about getting the Arcam all-in-one repaired? I would think that might be cost effective depending on the fault.

Re: Do you have a hifi bucket list?

Lots more records. At a sensible price.

New dedicated laptop / music server to replace the ancient lump I've got at the moment which has a battery life of zero so dies every time I pull it out and the power lead comes out.

Otherwise I'm trying hard to be good.

I don't think there is any other way. Thanks for trying though.

Maybe a friend / relative could do it and you pay them back?

Re: new user with a possible ground loop problem

OK, so now you know all cables are good. Leave the RH channel with no cable plugged in. If you plug one cable into the left (good) pre amp output and the other into the left (good) power you should get no hum. Now plug the cable into the RH power. If you get the hum the power is the problem. If not ...

Re: Naiming and shaming

Really interesting thread. I've heard a lot of good things about Fanthorpes. My friend uses them a lot and raves about them. They lent him a pair of 300 sigs to try at home (took credit card swipe of course) and traded in his old amps for a good price. Shame you cannot borrow a pair of 200 sigs to t...

Re: new user with a possible ground loop problem

Try using 1 original and 1 new cable. If that works ok swap out the new cable for the other half of the pair. If one fails it will show you have a faulty new cable - probably the ground not connected tightly. Tighten up the plugs on both ends and see how it goes. The plug has two halves that need to...

Re: Mono X going into protection

That's weird, I would expect instant overload like that only on a shorted output. The only other thing I can think of is either a duff fan or or fan sensor or build up of crud. Good blow out for both but it's a long shot.
