Re: Gain matching

Thanks for taking time to explain to me. Very informative. The paragraph about not harming gear puts my mind at rest. I suppose if you can select the voltage on say a non cyrus dac (which just outputs it’s full signal if no volume control) you’d have to know what the normal voltage gain into the dac...

Gain matching

Can someone explain to me in my limited knowledge on this subject. If you use a non cyrus dac into a cyrus pre amp, why is it necessary to gain match (the voltage presumably). Is it only from the perspective of volume levels eg between dac and pre. I hear cyrus talking about all cyrus components bei...

Re: Oppo Pulling Out of AV

The phone business is obviously a lot more lucrative than hifi and av products and hazarding a guess it’s probably a case of allocating resources to maximise returns.

Re: Roon into cyrus

That’s the great thing that it only needs be on the network not in same room. I think I’d still buy the i7 as the price difference is not much and I’ve heard some people comment on forums that the i5 version can not be best possible if using dsp.

Re: Hi Res (again)

I don’t think it’s as simple as is made out, with respect to the posters view. I’ve no doubt we can hear the benefits of hi res music.

Re: Roon into cyrus

I’ve heard some people say Simon that it’s noisy with the fan. Is that your experience if you bought an NUC?

Re: Roon into cyrus

The nucleus is good if you don’t want to faff about. But an i7 Intel NUC with all the ram you need and the hard drive for Roon and ability to deal with DSP, plus a fanless heat sink case like the nucleus has, can be had for around £600. The nucleus is many multiples of that ie £1500 or £2500, depend...

Re: Roon into cyrus

I’ve been checking it out and seen some people blogging that a server they have made costs £300 with some used bits. Adding the sonic orbiter Se end point for £300 with a optical toslink out, I reckon you can do the whole thing for around £500. The server obviously sits on the network to the router ...

Roon into cyrus

Does anybody know what is the cheapest way to intergrate Roon into a cyrus system without using your main pc as the server. And what’s the best end point player to use, but not costing much. I can see that something like a Intel NUC with i7, 8gb or ram and an ssd drive, with a Auralic Aries mini as ...

Re: Alternatives to cadence on Apple?

I tried iPeng myself but it’s a Squeezebox Linux based app, so it won’t work and show up as a upnp media server for cyrus. I tried the audionet apps on iPad and you can do playlists but I don’t know of others where you can intergrate tidal tracks or of other streaming sites like with bubble upnp on ...

Re: Qobuz v Tidal

I wonder if qobuz is a one hifi component service or one user service as if it’s the latter, there is surely no reason why people cant share the login? On that score if the downloads for hi res are the same as those that can be streamed from qobuz, this is even better in this sense, as shared users ...

Re: cyrus experience day solihull

I went to one of the ones last year and if you’ve been already I think it will be much of the same, obviously as there aren’t too many new products. I hope cyrus invest in dacs and just make the whole user experience better. It seems there is not as much investment on best separates compared to the ...

Re: Streamline firmware update

I agree that bubble upnp on android is good. I like it for intergrating tidal tracks into nas ones for playlists, but I don’t think you can change playlist order which is really annoying.
