Re: Serious speaker help!

Can I ask where the other speaker is? Is it out of shot, to the left of the sideboard? And where is your listening position? I’m struggling to see how you’ll get any sort of decent sound with that placement and room to be honest. The PMCs are probably fine but all that glass together with your asymm...

Re: The future of this forum

That kind of puts me in the hifi industry and means the "cyrusunofficial is not related to any hifi manufacturer" etc statement is no longer true I can’t agree with this, sorry! It’s not who pays the server bills but who sets the content policy and moderates posts. Seems to me that CU is ...

Re: The future of this forum

As a newish member can I add that I found this forum when I couldn’t get decent, unvarnished information from the official Cyrus forum or from the FB owners page. Now I regularly refer people here for deep knowledge. So please don’t underestimate the value of what knowledge is here or confuse new po...

Re: Cyrus QXR Upgrade

Perhaps the new owners need “burn in” time but I’m not sure a DAC will significantly change sound over time?

By way of example, one person reported a noticeable drop in quality in their analogue inputs which is quite impressive considering no change is made to that circuit with the QXR upgrade. :)

Re: Cyrus QXR Upgrade

A couple of people on the Cyrus FB group have received theirs. Mixed reviews but there’s no easy way to A:B test a 3 week return to base upgrade, so the comments are mostly confirmation bias (both positive and negative). My speakers / ears certainly aren’t good enough to appreciate the QXR Dac but I...

Re: FLAC files on portable external drive problems

Thanks for your responses. The software version is 4.3, would that support FLAC? The external portable drive does have the light on when plugged in to the USB. If I plug in my Apple iPod running MP3 files I presume, they read fine. I will try another file format on the portable drive. Is it anythin...

Re: new user with a possible ground loop problem

Ian, thank you so much for the detailed reply. What a great community this is. I followed your advice and started to test for resistance between centre pin (and outer connection whilst I was there) and chassis ground. I spent a while testing and recording the results before the penny dropped. Outer ...

Re: tagging, computers - shouting

you could try songkong http://www.jthink.net/songkong/en/index.jsp Its user interface is a bit clunky and it takes a while to get the hang of but it does the job. When you have reencoded and tagged all your flac files, how will you play them? Often library and/or playback software will automatically...
