Cyrus gone but the itch is there still

Postby dan.s » Thu May 24, 2018 12:55 pm

Sold my X-Power and went for a 250DR.
Sold my MA Gold 200 standfloors and went for Elac 244BE.

But I'm still stalking XP Sigs and mono Xs on eBay :) Especially placed on a wall mounted Hark 1 ::)

Those speakers look a long way apart - do you not get an image 'hole' in the middle?

(mine are the same, but most pics of peoples stereo have the speakers much closer together)

They are 3.5m apart, no sound gaps in between.

That's a very expensive itch.

I had the same one, scratched it with the full sig system including psx-r2's.
I remember stalking sig kit every day.
I might move mine on in a few months, just waiting for a michell gyrodec to arrive tomorrow.
I had the same problem with sports cars, now I don't need them, been there done it kind of thing.

The kit's great but the thrill of the chase and hunting is also a good part of the process.
Good luck

It depends on how far away you are!

I really like your set up, Dan. Way to go! Is there a chart with this kind of info btw, Alngelface?

I think an equilateral triangle between listening position and speaker positions is a good starting point.

That only works for me if I toe-in the speakers, otherwise I get the 'hole'.

I normally have speakers pointing slightly outwards of pointing straight at listening position.

Having sound absorbtion panels behind speakers does a make a big difference to Imaging. I discovered that my centre point was formed by reflections off back wall so I moved my speakers slightly closer together and now have a less defined centre point but more of a spread out image.
