Postby callen24 » Thu Apr 18, 2019 2:56 pm

It would have to be The Bible.

Preferably a modern English translation. New World Translation is free to read online or download at https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/ along with other translations; King James, American Standard, Byington.

My favourite version is CEV. Available with many other versions on App YouVersion.com

I really enjoyed reading Saipens even if you have to take some of the science with a pinch of salt.

I personally don't dispute the science of evolution although I think it has advanced a bit since Darwin's ideas.

At the moment I'm reading:

Ann Cleeves - The Crow Trap

This is the first of the DI Vera Stanhope series. I've not seen any of the television programmes featuring this character so cannot comment on how the book compares. I'm about a third of the way in and enjoying it very much.

I've previously read Raven Black by the same author featuring DI Perez in Shetland. Again, I've not seen any of the television programmes.

I recommend this author if you like British crime / mystery.

No, but I've read the bible (intended lower case) and the only way from there can be up. Not intended as a slight to anyone on here - particularly to you Chris, people are different and see things in different ways.

I certainly don't take it as a slight. I just wondered how you could recommend a book you haven't read? The op asked for a recommendation, and I recommended one I have read multiple times.
Alfred Russell Wallace's books I find interesting (co-discoverer (?) of natural selection) more so than Darwin's and many committed evolutionists are moving away from Darwinism because it doesn't answer many question, particularly as to innovative power.
"The third way" is an example. https://www.thethirdwayofevolution.com
