Same song every day

Postby jules » Fri Dec 01, 2017 11:16 am

I remember reading an interview with Johnny Borrell from the band Razorlight saying that he listens to Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower every morning. It got me thinking... if I had to listen to one track everyday for the rest of my life what would it be?

Some track have longevity over others.. and also some tracks I *really* enjoy but make sure I don't play them too often so as not to overplay them and risk losing their magic. Some tracks also are so 'deep' that on every listen it's like you're uncovering a new facet and finding something new in the track.

After consideration my track would be Arvo Part's Summa for String Orchestra:

I never tire of hearing this track. I think it's because it's not too flashy or flamboyant... it just gradually permeates into your brain. Calming, uplifting, weighty but not too serious or melancholic, mysterious but not too avant garde.

loosing that magic, because you hear it to much has a name " bohemian rhapsody syndrome"
i know someone who listened to the whole of pet sounds everyday for 20 years.
this is an impossible choice by i think i might choose " hiroshima mon armour' by ultravox or anchor age by Michelle shocked

I don't have to actively listen to the same songs every day - the earworms take care of that..

"Gardening at Night" by R.E.M.

Catchy, not flashy, appeared on very early demos and EP - and yet ironically/coincidentally it was one of the few tracks they chose to play when they were inducted into the Hall of Fame a few years back.

Don't know about every day, but I never tire of hearing Rodrigo's Concierto d'Aranjuez from the film Brassed Off. It's a great frustration that the flugelhorn solo has been mixed down on the soundtrack cd, so it's better on the Youtube clip from the film.

If I were to listen to the same song every day, I think it would have to be......

Beatles - here comes the sun. Just makes you feel great when you have to get out of bed.
