Re: Deezer Elite

Initial impressions after a couple of days very good, playing it through my Sonos Connect (hard wired into network) into my Anthem processor and amps into Dynaudio Contour speakers quality seems to be on par with cd.  I am new to using an online streaming service (generally link to Apple lossle...

Re: What vinyl did you spin recently?

It can only be 50 years old  :) , when you get to my age losing 10 years isn't good

Some of these old lps are amazing.  My copy of Dylan's Freewheelin which I bought on its release was played at parties and on many dodgy players and still sounds great.
Karine Polwart and Blue Rose Code at St James Church last night, fine modern Scottish folk!
Went to see them on Friday up here, an excellent concert.  Review here from local paper. www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/2013/10/20/audience-left-with-polwarts-beautiful-songs-ringing-...

Re: Cyrus Lyric 5 and 9

Why complain. Many Porsche owners were appalled when they started to sell the Cayenne but it sells in huge numbers and allows them to keep developing great cars like the 911 Gt3'.  So if it gives Cyrus some extra funds to develop audiophile products it will be no bad thing.

Re: Long run speaker cable and hdmi

I think that there is a suggested limit for the max length of HDMI cable,  I seem to recall about 15 metres.  I have 20 metres to my projector (Atlas) which works but it is on the limit.

Re: Felt a bit like this at hifi store the other day

Distance no object to Moorgate.  I live in Shetland and arranged to visit Moorgate some years ago to hear a  Chord Electronics / Wilson Benesch combination.  Travel problems meant I did not arrive until late afternoon but a member of staff stayed on late into the evening to demo the k...

Re: A Secret World ?

Icon Audio, seems to be a residential street in Leicester, Graham Slee in Barnsley and Electromod in high Wycombe.  I am not suggesting any problem only some surprise It may well be that these businesses are administered from a residential address with operational premises elsewhere as many sma...

A Secret World ?

I have started to look for a headphone amp (thread on the subject very helpful) and as  part of my initial paper search (dont have a dealer within reach for demos so need shortlist) I had a quick look at the companies making (or importing / rebadging) some of the amps which seem to be contender...

Re: Headphones

I have AKG 701s and am thinking of a dabble inthe world of tube amps.  Icon Audio HP8 or the Shiit headphone tubes look interesting.  Any experience of either?

Re: not i-tunes please!
flac, EAC, J River and a Synology NAS, have all worked very well for me. As RoF said, do it right first time. I did it three times before getting it more or less right, and it was effing tedious. And, as I may have observed previouslyon a number of occasions, keeping well clear...

Re: Help needed please re monoboc amps

Thanks Robert should have said about psxrs .  I did the internal mod myself, a long time ago but seem to think there was a guide on here somewhere.  as I said above I think it was just a case of opening the case and swapping a couple of jumpers but I can't recall exactly what to do.  ...

Re: Help needed please re monoboc amps

I converted a pair of powers to mono some years ago and recall it needed internal tweakery ( something simple like swapping a jumper cable) as well as flicking the switch but don't recall exactly what was involved and no longer have the amps to look.  I  found an online guide somewhere pos...
