Re: vinyl offers at Udiscover - still on

I agree with all the points made. A good second hand vinyl shop is a godsend. I’m lucky to be just a few miles from Reading where there is The Sound Machine which is superb. If you’re anywhere near Sheffield I understand you should be getting a good second hand record store in the not too distant f...

Re: schiit saga

I can reply to parts of this. The only UK reseller is Mark at Schiit.eu.com. They are mail order only. The whole Schiit ethos is to keep prices low by cutting out the dealer network who Schiit say typically account for around 40% of an RRP. As mentioned in the thread, I have a Freya. The only issue...

Re: schiit saga

Reading through the entire post, from what I think I've understood, the valve pre-amp is susceptible to picking up FM broadcast noise? I've been looking at my set up for a while, and have recently added a vinyl component to my system (Rega P2 with stock cartridge and Cyrus Phono Sig). I like the Cyr...

Re: vinyl offers at Udiscover - still on

Where else do you source your vinyl, as the catalogue is very limited (but good price on a U2 18 album with postage still coming out £7 less than HMV - so thanks!)? I'm still trying to decide if vinyl is better for me (than streaming / CDs), but it's definitely more "fun" putting a record ...

Re: What Speaker cable are we all using

Started off many years ago with Atlas Equator 2, and found the base somewhat blurred. Upgraded to Atlas Hyper 2 after a while and have been using these cables for the past 10 years.

Would probably only consider changing the cable if I ever get to changing my speakers - which is a whole new topic.

Re: primare - follow in the footsteps of richard

Wow, thanks for the comprehensive reply. I appreciate hifi is very subjective and down to personal taste. I'm going to do some more digging on the internet I think, as I wasn't previously aware of these..

Many thanks,
Rich

Re: primare - follow in the footsteps of richard

These are from Homebound in Edinburgh, the dealer I bought my Pre60/A60 from. You can buy with confidence from them. They are a very good set of amps, dac and streamer, and at that price stunning value. Would you say these have a similar warm/rich sound that Cyrus Mono amplifiers create? Being down...

Re: What did you listen to today!

Currently listening to a bit of Darius Rucker's Southern Style. Not a fan of country-ish music in general, but this is pretty easy listening and is helping cheer up the place on a rather dull and foggy morning here in Kent.

Re: London Cyrus / hifi repair recommendations please

Glad everything is sorted. It's a funny balance on what to do. A local repair would be £30.00 basic. No warranty. Cyrus will have done a full system check. Takes time and overhead recovery costs. Fuses blow for a reason. Try to use the CD as often as possible, turning it on and off, just to be sure...

Re: Steam X2 in da house!

i found bluesound node very close to stream x2. Both much better than sonos. i enjoyed sonos, very listenable but bless its modded I think streamx2 is a step Thanks, might tempt me into seeing about getting a demo/loan of a Stream X2 to hear if things have changed (although my setup may just be not...

Re: Steam X2 in da house!

streamx2 has diffferent internals as far as i know. i got rid of my cdxtse2 because to my ears x2 was close in sound quality Was just wondering if there was anything special about the Cyrus Streamers that anyone had noticed over the cheaper streamers in terms of sound quality for like-for-like reco...

Melissa Morgan - Until I met you

Hadn't played it for a couple of years and forgot how good this one-off album (including some covers) sounds.

Re: London Cyrus / hifi repair recommendations please

(I know this has been addressed before but the discussions seem to be a few years old and I wondered if there might be any updated info.) I'd like to have my CD-i player looked at; it's a factory upgraded dAD-3 and the work was done just over 2 years ago. For £1000 I would have thought I'd get mroe...
