Ortofon Cadenza Black - New!

Surplus to requirements, I have a brand new boxed unopened Cad Black for sale. It's a legendary cart, I had one already - plenty of reviews everywhere. The thing is I can do it on here for £1500 which is a great deal, not sure you'd get a cheaper new one even with a trade in.

Re: Aurender N100H

Just one thing to correct in Joe's excellent review is that the Aurender Media Manager is also available for Windows.

Re: Aurender N100H

Ah ha... very good.

Great review, I can't disagree with a word, it's a great sounding, quality bit of kit.

Software-wise they need to make another move as the Conductor app is a little tired, but I'm feeling that they might do something good in that area soon, even if it's not Roon.

Re: is it a rule that buying a record deck must lead to an expensive cartridge?

[quote="crimsondonkey"] You need to match the mass of your tonearm to the appropriate compliance of a cartridge so that resonance frequency is within limits. From that category of cartridges you can then narrow down the ones which match in load/ impedance to your Trilogy phono stage. After that you'...

Re: How do we like Tidal?

I like it too - flexible and sound quality is excellent. I've recently started exploring the curated playlists some of which are really god and this in turn makes it easy to set up my own versions of these playlists. Not bothered at all about not owning physical media - in fact I increasingly see it...

Re: is it a rule that buying a record deck must lead to an expensive cartridge?

It is a difficult area - practically speaking, no convenient way of comparing carts and a significant number of variables, especially if you don't have a mainstream TT.  My cleaner recently trashed my cartridge Cadenza Black and I'm claiming on the insurance - much as I like the Ortofon I don't...

Re: what soundtrack did you listen to today

My wife watched Westworld - I was listening to music in the back room of course. I'll have a listen so at least we can compare notes on the soundtrack ;) Off track slightly but I watched the Amy Winehouse film (with my wife) at the weekend, sad, nay, desperate story but I was constantly struck by th...

I quite like boom boom rappers. My older kids OTOH (16-21) love Heart FM and other easy listening stations.

Not sure what happened there.

Re: hattor passive review

Yep that was my main point - the positioning of the piece.

I'd never nit pick someone's writing style in a normal forum posting, I would in 'a review' though.

I think you should write the review if you get one Phil ...then we can have a pop at you  ;)

Re: what soundtrack did you listen to today

Planet Earth II is pretty good - Hans Zimmer frame kicks it off and then some other guy takes over with a typically grandiose, uplifting score.

It's a good TV series too of course, who will take over from Attenborough?
