Re: What did you listen to today!

Prog rock afternoon but avoiding the 1970s.

Late sixties: Man - first two albums
Early eighties: Marillion - first album and a best of album

I've been playing CDs more than LPs or streaming for some reason.

Have been thinking about my response to this thread and have just popped on to reply only to see that Mick has already expressed my thoughts!

Re: What did you listen to today!

It's cold and raining heavily in Northampton and so feels appropriate to play Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow, brrrrr!

Re: What did you listen to today!

I generally like to play vinyl on a Sunday morning. Today, however, I'm celebrating the recovery of the DAC function in my DACXP Sig (see other thread) by having a digital music session. I have the Readly App on my iPad and was looking through Prog Magazine which has a feature on readers' favourite ...

Re: DACXP Sig drama

Thank you all.

I left it overnight and disconnected from the mains power for an hour this morning. Thought I'd try restoring power first before trying a factory re-set and it is working normally after power restoration without the need for a re-set.

A great relief!

DACXP Sig drama

Any bright ideas? Today my DACXP Signature is sounding very thin and lacking bass across both channels on all digital inputs across both coaxial input (CD & Streamer) and toslink (DVD) input, so I know it's not a source or input problem. It sounds fine on the analogue input (turntable). I theref...

Re: Rocketman

I saw Rocketman today and enjoyed it far more than I expected. I accepted it as a representation rather than an accurate biopic which is what is the intention.

Re: Tomorrow

I will be voting too. In doing so I will try to select those who can best represent our interests for the time we are still in the EU, i.e the job of MEPs. While it's an opportunity to also express an opinion, it's important to consider the outcome of this election is not about Brexit - that is a ma...

Re: Which peice of hifi gear have you had the longest?

I have a Creek CAS4040 integrated amp bought new in 1984 still going strong in my home office.

Oldest Cyrus kit in my main system is a Phono X & PSX-R bought new in 2005 and still sounds great.

Re: What did you listen to today!

Am reading Paul McCartney: The Biography by Peter Norman which got me listening to The Beatles - Anthology 1 (CD1). Have also been looking at the iconic Astrid Kirchherr b&w photographs taken in Hamburg including those of Pete Best and the ultra cool Stuart Sutcliffe. Although I've read numerous...

Re: What vinyl did you spin recently?

My wife and I share very similar music tastes. When we met 12 years ago we were surprised how much are respective LP and CD collections, built up entirely separately over the previous almost 40 years, had so many commonalities and connections. However one area about which we widely differ is jazz. S...

Re: are you on other hifi forums?

I think it would be a shame to move away from CU and I'm hoping we can revive things a bit.

If things remain the same and the forum winds up I'd prefer we went to PFM.

Re: Recommend one book?

At the moment I'm reading: Ann Cleeves - The Crow Trap This is the first of the DI Vera Stanhope series. I've not seen any of the television programmes featuring this character so cannot comment on how the book compares. I'm about a third of the way in and enjoying it very much. I've previously read...

Wine recommendations

I thought it might be interesting to share wine recommendations. I'm suggesting we set a price range of £7-£20 I also think it should be something readily available in most locations such as supermarkets, chain wine shops or non-subscription mail order. To start off: Vina Pomal Rioja Reserva 2013 10...

Re: What vinyl did you spin recently?

Yes, I have some of the Peter Green Fleetwood Mac albums (also on CD) and some Peter Green solo albums (on vinyl) which I greatly enjoy.
