Re: How much is my Cyrus system worth?

Mono X and PSX-R sell well second hand so eBay would be a good bet.

DAC and CDP are less easy to sell so my be worth trading in.

This is reassuring for those of us who bought a mid-price digital coaxial cable without doing a test first!

Re: Future upgrade beyond Dac XP Signature ?

I haven't compared them but I would have suggested going to a Bel canto DAC 3.7. Of course Bel Canto have just stopped making them. I think Chord's sucess with their DACs is putting off other manufacturers trying to compete with them. Auralic have some products that combine streaming with (or withou...

There are plenty of cdp bargains out there but please leave the absolute bargains to the CD fans like me.

Re: Cyrus gone but the itch is there still

That only works for me if I toe-in the speakers, otherwise I get the 'hole'. I normally have speakers pointing slightly outwards of pointing straight at listening position. Having sound absorbtion panels behind speakers does a make a big difference to Imaging. I discovered that my centre point was ...

I think an equilateral triangle between listening position and speaker positions is a good starting point.

Re: Thoughts on speakers...

Two things I have found that really impact bass 1. Power amps. Have you considered some s/h Mono X? 2. Room insulation. Every time I add a GIK 244 bass absorption panel I get so much more bass. I think it is that without panels bass reflections are cancelling out the bass in my smallish room. I have...

Why does a DAC have to have analogue inputs (strangely mine does)? Analogue inputs are for the pre-amp (mine only has one pair!).

Re: Cyrus announcement at Munich High End

Which is exactly what Cyrus should be making if they are to survive. Cyrus's sweetspot has always been high mid-range. Aspirational perhaps for beginners but something to dream about. The new One will eventually replace the 6/8 series. Most members are already committed to Cyrus or at least that is ...

Re: Stereo 200 turning off at volume, more power? x300 sig?

Only question now is, What to do with the stereo 200? I’m listening to tidal a lot. I’m in no rush for another pair of x300s. Should I try it in a bi-amp setup with the x300s and if so, should I use it for high or low frequencies? Should I box it up try sell it, on here or on eBay? Should I put it ...

Re: Goodbye to Cyrus (Almost)

I am moving away from Cyrus but still have 6 boxes in total (I did have 8 at one point).

I really like my Cyrus CD transport and I can imagine myself upgrading to Mono X300s at some point.

Cyrus DACs can be bettered and I can't imagine myself buying another Cyrus pre.

Stereo 200's cannot be used in Mono - I think the clue is in the name!
