Re: tagging, computers - shouting

I think I would rather spend £500 on my system than some tagging software. :)

Re: tagging, computers - shouting

I got Tag & Rename years ago as it was cited as the on,y software to effectively tag WAV. Not sure if this is still true, but I still use it and find it very good.

I did that. Apa7.5 to Nord one up. Night and day. One of the most significant upgrades I have made.

Re: Anti-virus software recommendations please

My son is a software engineer. He told me to just use Windows Defender as previously mentioned. I used to use AVG too.
He says it is now as good as anything out there, as Microsoft were sick of being criticised about the security of their systems, so spend money on it.

Re: System Upgrade Advice Please...

If vinyl is your main source then I would definitely upgrade the TT first. The RP1 is a good entry level, but can easily be bettered. What did you think of the Linn? A second hand one from a dealer can be had for your budget. If not then an RP6 would be a good buy. Then upgrade your other items late...

Don't forget the trick I posted. I am happily paying for Tidal in dollars instead of pounds.

Re: Resisting , CD is not dead , neither is SACD

Some of you are missing the point. cD is dead because fewer and fewer people are buying them which will mean the record companies will stop providing them. How long will it be before the first album is available on vinyl and download only? Not long I expect. Just like vinyl in the 90s, except I don'...

Re: new car tax changes

I just read that the average age of a car in the U.K. Is 6 years, in Germany it is 8 and in the US it is 12.

Seems our throw away society includes cars too. And why my friends in America run their cars for 120k miles, and think we are mad.

Should help the Brexit deal though.

Re: What Speakers to audition

Echo above thoughts although I am a PMC man (love the 21's) but a word of caution. I too had your speakers and of the many speakers I have owned over the years the AE1's are the only speakers I regret selling. Yes, they are a bit harsh, a bit 'in your face' but you will struggle to find a replaceme...

I have family there too. Beautiful part of the world, but a bit far out from civilisation for my wife! My cousin is an independent builder working from Braunton. If there is any work you are not doing yourself, that may help you. Sounds like a shameless plug, but it is not, as he is never short of w...

Re: Resisting , CD is not dead , neither is SACD

The CD player is not dead. I took advantage of the Cyrus upgrade offer last year, Cyrus CD XT Signature, M-DAC, Cyrus 6 DAC Amp. I have music from HDTracks that sounds amazing via the fiber link from my Asus Zonar STX sound card, if you then take the album you have been listening to in high res (24...
