Re: Chesterfield half marathon - raising money for Mind

Not too great - once pulled calf muscle recovered the next to go was my right heel. Seems to have recovered now and I went on my first tentative recovery run last night which was much better than expected. I've got 12 weeks now to train which is possible but really cutting it fine - I really can't a...

Re: Melco N1A

I can't comment on the sound difference premiums having not heard the Melco, but I think what you're paying more for is the proprietary and very well executed USB output, and an App that whilst very brown works hassle free with good Tidal integration. Aurenders hold their value which should tell you...

Re: More ruminations

Two different answers to the next sweet spot -
1. Your room, room treatment and/ or electronic room correction
2. Stopping listening to the kit itself and go find some brilliantly mastered versions of your favourite albums on LP

Re: Unhappy return to vinyl

Lots of choice in your price range and if you're patient and lucky you could snag a cheap Garrard 401, Thorens 125 or Technics 1210 etc. I really like the Clearaudio Concept TT, but having just spotted it I think you should contact Kipper immediately and do a deal on this lovely TT he has - http://w...

Re: Unhappy return to vinyl

Take it back if you can - as Chris says you've gone in too low.

If you have a budget in mind that you're comfortable with it should be possible to spec you something competitive sound wise.

Re: Stylus alignment on the cheap

You'll spend that on a decent budget electronic stylus gauge and to be honest I'm always more confident with the balance scale. When I bought mine (a few years back) it was about £15. You should find one cheaper than £32 though. In my experience VTF has just as much influence on the sound as alignme...

Re: Stylus alignment on the cheap

So let me get this straight, you want to lash out £10k on a Koetsu cartridge but don't want to pay £10 for a stylus tracking weight gauge? :) Cant go wrong with one of these to be honest - https://www.amazon.co.uk/SHURE-SFG2-DJ-accessories-Vinyle/dp/B00006I5SD/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498643607&a...
