Even though you bought the DAC-XP ex-demo it should still be under warranty, unless Sevenoaks stated differently at the time of purchase. The best bet might be to find the receipt which should state what cover they provided.

Found the receipt but it had no mention of the warranty, not that it matters because sevenoaks replied to my email saying to return the unit back to them so that they can send it off to Cyrus - under warranty  ;D

I'll let you know how things develop - thanks again all...pete

Update time  :D

Cyrus emailed back today saying that the dac xp has had 5 new regulators, 11 capacitors and a full software upgrade, I certainly am baffled by the science here.

The unit is currently in soak, hope it's waterproof  :o and they are trying to get it out to me on Friday.

I hope you get to try out your Mac Mini with the 'fixed' Dac XP soon then, Pete and I hope you don't have any more problems this time.  ;)

Update2

Received the dac xp back this morning which is a great turnaround considering I only confirmed that I would be in to receive it at 3pm yesterday afternoon.

All seems to be working perfectly now  :P the mac mini connected to the dac first time and I am now listening via plex, using the iPad remote app  ;D

thanks for your guidance all, and kudos to cyrus for a great service.

Hi Guys, first post here and an old thread but thought I would just confirm for everyone that Spotify Connect is now available on Mac. It's the perfect way for a Mac owner to listen to Spotify because you can control Spotify running on your mac using any Android or Apple device running the Spotify app.

I can also vouch for Plex on mac too, I run Plex and Spotify from my mac mini to my Cyrus 8xpd via optical at this stage and the sound is quite nice, thinking a USB-Spdif convertor will take it to another level too.
