Isoacoustics Gaia

Postby gary66 » Sun Jul 30, 2017 9:36 pm

I fitted a set of Isoacoustic Gaia III speaker isolation feet today - £199 for a set of 4 (so £398 to fit a pair of floorstanders). Seen a few good reviews and took a punt. They screw in instead of the spikes and make the speakers 'float' similar to the Townshend ones. I fitted to one speaker first to compare the effect, and then listened to each speaker individually, connecting them in turn after a few bars of the same song. They clearly improve my Spendor D7s. A noticeable improvement in clarity and resolution. For example the layering of guitars on Red Hot Chillis Californication is more distinguishable. And on Lana del Ray's video games I can hear greater resolution on the drums and a faint echo on her voice which I couldn't hear without the feet. For me, in a newish house with carpeted suspended floors, they're worth the money and an upgrade over spikes, granite slabs and sorbothane.

the only problem is they might raise the height of your tweeters too high ? that's why I had to sell my stella stands as they did not suit height wise

They raise the height by 4.5cm. The heights of each can be set separately so I guess they could tilt the speakers downwards a little.

MCRU have them for sale. around £75 each. There's a good comparison of them with other similar things here:

Hello
Had a pair of Gaia 3 from a friend of mine (who piss me off with those)
Well , as it looks , some pieces of sorbotane under a nice aluminium shaft .. that what it is basically
Seems quite expensive for what it is
BUT
Tried it under Audiophysics Virgo 25
HUGE change in bass , and music presentation
Is it better : I don't know ?
But it's really worth the consideration .. certainly
Test it in your room .. may be it may work out
Cheers

ha , I see they mention black ravioli on there . guaranteed to start an acrimonious debate !! I use it under my kit though with good effect and have done for years .

The soundcare superspikes are still a favourite for me...
Pioneer LX55 + Denon Da-300USB ->
Rega RP3 with TTPSU + Musical Fidelity M1LPS -> Musical Fidelity M6i -> Trond "Ellam 2.5"
Yamaha NP-S303 ->

Cyrus Streamline v2 -> "Trond" Peerless HDS-PPB

And me. For those with wooden or suspended floors, they work a treat...and are a fraction of the cost of the bigger beasts of the OP.

As someone (almost always) said, YMMV ;)

As there's been some discussion about Isoacoustic iso-pucks I thought I'd resurrect this thread giving my review of the Gaia 3s, and also subsequent comments by a few others about similar products.
