Chesterfield half marathon - raising money for Mind

Postby crimsondonkey » Thu Mar 23, 2017 11:23 am

As many of you may know, I am a keen supporter of Mind and the work they do in raising awareness of mental health issues, and in providing support and advice for people who find it difficult to access care and treatment. This is a problem that many of us and our loved ones will face in our lives at some point.

http://www.mind.org.uk/

I have decided somewhat foolishly to join some colleagues who I am working with in Chesterfield in running their half marathon in October this year. I cannot run and have little to no stamina so this is going to be quite a challenge.

I have set up a thread on Audio Abbatoir to keep people posted on my training, struggles and general pain -

http://audioabattoir.com/t/chesterfield-half-marathon-raising-money-for-mind/1271

I would be grateful for your encouragement and donations - I've set up a Justgiving page here -

Many thanks.

Good luck Wayne, donation made. Book a sports massage for the day after, you'll thank yourself afterwards!

It has been strapped for a week and although less sore I'll be keeping off any impact until I'm 100% convinced its okay.

Well, it was great, until my left knee started playing up and got very sore last week. Minor setback and I'll soon be racking up the miles again.

I managed to sprain the MCL of both knees snowboarding in February/March. Nothing major but its taking an age to heal. I tried road-cycling too soon and that set me back to the start again, so be careful with putting in too many miles too soon.

Not too great - once pulled calf muscle recovered the next to go was my right heel. Seems to have recovered now and I went on my first tentative recovery run last night which was much better than expected.

I've got 12 weeks now to train which is possible but really cutting it fine - I really can't afford another injury!
