Mobile Fidelity version of Loves 'Forever Changes' arrived yesterday and is getting a spin this morning at a decent volume.  Expensive and 45rpm means 3 tracks a side but the mastering job is quite superb.

Truly a masterpiece, I have it as the Rhino release.

Soul, blues, hip hop and a helluva voice.  Also check out his performance of 'Human' on Jools recently.

I frequently play The Groundhogs - Split although, for some reason, I less often play the previous album: Thank Christ For The Bomb which I'm playing now. I'm not quite sure why I slightly overlook this absolute gem. Each track has a story in the lyrics and the music is a little more varied in style than Split.

"Thank Christ For The Bomb", is indeed a gem!

...a little more varied in style than Split.

For me, "Split", was always a live/jam sort of album, "get out there and knock 'em dead!"
Such an exciting raw sound, discretely polished in the bands execution of each track.
It's probably why I consider "Split" as one of my, if not the, all time favourite rock albums!

...guess what's gonna get a spin later?!!  ;D

First thing that went on was Goat 'Requiem' as pictured above.

Now giving the Analogue Productions issue of Herbie Hancocks 'Headhunters' a very loud airing.  Those synths sounds fat and heavy ;D

Bought today from a favourite haunt, "Red Rose Records", in lowly Boscombe...

Peter Green - "In The Skies", on green vinyl (sic!). In quite superb condition.
His second solo album, after an eight year sojourn, featuring Snowy White on lead for the two openers. Although they're very Greenesque sounding, Green having written the music and his then wife the lyrics, you soon hear when Peter takes the helm on the remainder of the album. Nothing really outstanding, but well worth the money for those moments of Green teasing the strings. Especially on the album closers, 'Proud Pinto' & 'Apostle'!
I love a bit of Greeny!

Johnny Winter - "Nothin' But The Blues", featuring Muddy Waters, James Cotton, 'Pine Top' Perkins, Bob Margolin...

Began listening to the Free Vinyl Collection tonight, all of the classic albums from one of the most musical bands of past years.

First off was Tons of Sobs, what an introduction from a bunch of 16-17 yrs old kids :
