The Beatles - Abbey Road

I already have this on CD, but couldn't resist the DeAgostini £9.99 offer currently available in newsagents.

Blimey, this perfectly flat heavy guage vinyl copy sounds outstanding. The music is, of course, sublime but the sound quality is remarkable.

I love my turntable / cartridge / phono stage set up!

I've also bought a copy of this as the only other versions I have are a picture disc version (which I was given but have no intention of playing) and what seems to be a first press from 1969. The new copy sounds pretty good to my old ears. Mind you I also listened to the 1969 original earlier for the first time in ages and, other than a few pops and crackles, it sounds mighty fine.

I wandered into our local FOPP yesterday lunchtime, and came out with

Sylvie Vartan - Twiste et Chante

A Doxy reissue on clear vinyl. A bit short, as 'long' players tended to be in 1963, but great fun!

Received this morning. Donald Fagen - THE NIGHTFLY - Mobil Fidelity One Step Pressing. Had to share this. Quite the BEST sound I have ever heard from my system (and an excellent album too). If MoFi start doing this regularly I am going to have to get a job!

Cant right now because my browser says the MoFi site may have been compromised (and if it has they will sort it - big company) But I ordered from Mobile Fidelity direct - delivered by FedEx. They are limiting the edition to 6000 world wide so don't wait to long.

Callen - I always use a clamp. Did A B a long time ago. No contest. Use a clamp.

Re MoFi. Yes. Sorry. VERY EXPENSIVE BUT I HONESTLY AM PLEASED (easily the most expensive LP I have ever purchased)

PLEASE report back your view. - even (especially?) if you disagree! I think this one may actually go up in value.

Wishbone Ash - Blue Horizon

The most recent album form the Andy Powell line-up on 4 short LP sides.

Reminds me of the gig reviews of the separate Andy Powell & Martin Turner bands in the current issue of Classic Rock magazine: Andy's band play technically and tightly, but lack the authentic WA sound, voice and soul of Martin's.
