Introduction

Use of the Cyrusunofficial forum relies on your accepting the following terms and conditions. By participating in this forum, you acknowledge your full acceptance of these terms.

Rules of conduct

Forum members shall not post or transmit through Cyrusunofficial any defamatory, threatening, insulting, harmful, pornographic or other material that would violate or infringe in any way upon the rights of others, or that would give rise to criminal or civil liability and / or violate federal or local law or regulation. Forum members may not transmit materials that encourage conduct that constitutes a criminal offence. Cyrusunofficial believes strongly in freedom of speech and will edit or delete posts only as a last resort, i.e., to remove libellous, racist, sexist or personally insulting statements or any content that could instigate or has instigated a flame war.

Forum members shall not upload, post or otherwise make available on Cyrusunofficial any material protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner of such copyright, trademark or other proprietary right.

Cyrusunofficial is a community and therefore relies on input from its members. If a member notices a post that breaches this AUP or that they are otherwise unhappy with they are encouraged to report it to the moderation team. There is a ‘report post’ button to the right of the post number of each post for this purpose.

Aliases

Whenever you post a message on this forum your alias will appear automatically with your message. You may choose any name; however, you may not use a user name (or e-mail address) that attempts to impersonate another person or that Cyrusunofficial deems to be offensive.

Code Of Practice for Dealers
# Retailers of HiFi who wish to join the CU forum must sign up as a Dealer. On payment of the registration fee they will also be able to advertise and promote themselves in the Dealer Ads section.

# Blatent or Excessive self promotion is not allowed outside the specific dealer forum. This includes starting threads in the 2 Channel Section.

# It is not permitted for dealers to use the pm facility to tout for business. Failure to comply with the above could lead to some or all posting rights being revoked.

Banning members

Cyrusunofficial reserves the right to remove any user account or to hinder a member from posting further whilst leaving the member's existing posts intact — these actions collectively known as banning a member — at any time and without explanation if the member's presence is seen to hinder the smooth running of the forum.

If a member has been banned for whatever reason, that member should no longer be a subject of discussion, as banned members can't reply. However, this clause is a courtesy only; it is not a right. Cyrusunofficial will generally honour this clause unless a banned member attempts to post again. If the banned member chooses to act in this manner, the moderation team — at its sole discretion — may decide to allow discussion of the banned member within the limits of the Rules of Conduct.

Trolls

Cyrusunofficial will not tolerate trolls, i.e., the creation of one or more accounts under an alias different from the original alias a member has chosen (this includes the return of a banned member under a covert identity). Troll accounts will be banned. However, a member may ask the administrator to change his or her alias. A member may also ask the administrator to allow more than one account if there are legitimate reasons, e.g., if distinct trade and personal accounts are needed.

Thread crapping

The term ‘thread crapping’ describes a situation where a member makes a post that is clearly contrary to the spirit or intent of the thread with the apparent aim of derailing the discussion or turning it into an argument. Criticism of pricing etc in the classifieds is considered bad form and is also seen as 'thread crapping'. Persistent examples of such behaviour may result in a poster being banned for a period of time.

Cyclic arguments

Cyrusunofficial will not host lengthy multi-page cyclical debates that become more entrenched and aggressive with each repetition of a point. Certain audio topics seem particularly prone to this e.g. DBT / ABX testing and the whole subjective vs. objective debate. A poster may be banned from the forum should they not heed moderation requesting that a subject or repetitious viewpoint be dropped.

"Joke" threads

Cyrusunofficial does not host “joke” threads as it is always only a matter of time before they descend into offensive territory.

Images and links to external sites

No image that could be considered pornographic or offensive should be placed into a post. This includes both images placed inline using the vBcode IMG tags and introduced as a link to an external site. Cyrusunofficial is a work and family safe site and this is a behaviour that could cause our members considerable difficulties (e.g. possible disciplinary procedures / sacking). It is therefore considered a very serious breach of conduct and one that could lead to a permanent ban.

The audio community

Cyrusunofficial sits harmoniously in the audio community along with many other audio forums. As such, it is not acceptable to bring any personal argument from another place onto this forum.

Disclaimer of liability

Cyrusunofficial is a distributor only (and not a publisher) of its interactive community. The content is supplied by forum members with occasional responses from Cyrusunofficial. Cyrusunofficial shall not be responsible for policing, monitoring, or editing such content, and exercises no more editorial control over such content than would a public library, bookstore, newsstand, or other distributor of content. Accordingly, Cyrusunofficial shall not be responsible for exercising editorial control over such content. Cyrusunofficial shall have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor all content, to respond to or comment upon communications by forum members and to determine compliance with the foregoing rules of conduct. Cyrusunofficial shall have the right and sole discretion to edit, to refuse to port or to remove any content whatsoever that it finds to be in violation of this AUP, or that it finds in its sole discretion to be otherwise objectionable for any reason.

The opinions expressed in the message boards are not necessarily (and in some cases not at all) those of Cyrusunofficial. Cyrusunofficial is not responsible for any materials provided by members that are deemed harmful or offensive to others. Cyrusunofficial is not responsible in any way for any injury, loss, or damage that occurs as a result of an opinion expressed or information provided in the Cyrusunofficial site.

Cyrusunofficial makes no warranties, express or implied, as to the content in the Cyrusunofficial site or the accuracy or reliability of any information or statements contained therein. All statements, advice and opinions made by forum members on this forum are those of the members only. Cyrusunofficial neither endorses nor shall be held responsible for the reliability or accuracy of same. This covers any DIY projects, both with regards to their suitability for intended purpose and electrical safety. Cyrusunofficial cannot be held responsible for any injury or damage resulting from the modification or construction of any electrical or electronic device discussed by members of the forum.

Forum members agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Cyrusunofficial and affiliated companies against all claims, losses, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from a forum member's use of Cyrusunofficial sites, or arising from any violation of the stated rules of conduct by a forum member including, without limitation, any communication by forum members that is claimed to be defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful, that is claimed to violate the copyright, trademark, proprietary or other rights of third parties, or that constitutes a submission of materials.

Private and dealer classifieds are not discussion threads. You may offer praise for an item being sold and you may recommend the item or the seller to other users. If you have comments on pricing these should be sent via Personal message to the seller. If you have an issue with the seller please PM a moderator.

To clarify:
Supporting / agreeing with the price is fine, if you think it's worth considerably more or less then PM is the way to go, pls dont "vocalise" on the thread itself.

"I agree with the asking price of £500" is fine
"How much?! I only paid £350 last week" is not fine - use PM.
"Pssst I suggest going up to £750" is best by PM.
