TIDAL support : will others follow ?

Postby bcostacurta » Fri Mar 17, 2017 1:48 pm

Hello,
as Cyrus Streamers now (from version 4.x) supports TIDAL, will others MOD (Music On Demand) services (as Spotify, Deezer, QObuz ..etc..) also supported in the future ?

No plans to do it.

Doubt it. It's been a big enough ask to get tidal. With no remote software updates I guess the simple answer is no.

I guess they thought just have one good one was enough. I suspect the nature of what they had in terms of hardware/software precluded extensive features.
I'd rather they concentrated on improved sound quality in any update, anyway

There was the fact that there was not enough onboard memory to add more.

Would need hardware upgrade.

Talking of upgrades, I've seen a Cyrus Stream X box with a different computer inside that claimed to support them all.

I appreciate that's a rather drastic solution but it worked well.

If true, IMHO this might prove that the Stream is nowadays really outdated about its hardware.
Especially if you consider its price.
I have a Logitech SqueeezBox Touch bought in 2015 for 250-euro which support many Internet services as Spotify, Deezer RadioTunes, Tidal ..etc.. even TuneIn Radio (which is not supported by Stream by the way) when Stream only supports Tidal.

Yes, fully agree.
And I love the Cyrus box. Same boxes over the years, just need some upgrades time to time :)
