Advice for a aussie cyrus owner

Postby AuCyrus » Thu May 18, 2017 12:20 pm

Hello
Im new to the forum and i hoping to get some advice from fellow cyrus owners.
Ive currently got a
8xpd
Xpower
Cd8 se
And a psx-r
Im bi amping them into my B&W 703's
Im running the high frequency thru the x power and low frequency thru the 8xpd with the psx-r plugged in
Im wondering if anyone has done something similar and if they have tried different combinations in conecting the system up and their thoughts on what would be the best combination.
Cheers
Daniel

Welcome to the forum

I would put the psx-r on the CD8SE.

I assume that you are using analogue outs from CD8SE as internal DAC is better than that in 8xpd.

I would also get another X-power and go to to mono operation as B&W's like power. At a later stage I would replace inetgrated by separate pre. Perhaps a passive or a DAC with pre like a Chord Hugo.

What cabling are you using?
CDXTSE2/PSX-R(Nordost Silver Line)BC DAC3.7VB(Atlas Navigator)BC Pre3VB(Atlas Navigator)2xMonoX(Coherent 4D)WB Arc
HUMAX Freesat+/Sony BDPS280>AVMaster8 and SP+>Spendor C5e>> Monitor Audio RXW12 sub>>4xSpendor SR5

I agree.
When I had Smartpowers, they sounded so much better driving the speakers in mono than HF/LF split between the two.
You will notice more of an improvement (spacial and soundstage) using the PSX on the CD than the pre in the 8Xpd.

Ebay is a global platform, so you should find one easly enough.
I once sold and posted a Naim Unitique to a guy in Perth, ebay is not entirely populated by scammers :)
