London Cyrus / hifi repair recommendations please

Postby C90 » Thu Jul 13, 2017 2:32 pm

(I know this has been addressed before but the discussions seem to be a few years old and I wondered if there might be any updated info.)
I'd like to have my CD-i player looked at; it's a factory upgraded dAD-3 and the work was done just over 2 years ago. For £1000 I would have thought I'd get mroe than 2 yrs use but the machine has now died on me - no power, no red LED on standby. Power cable is not to blame.
I'm loathe to spend £300 on sending it back to Cyrus for their standard service. Hopefully it might just be a blown fuse.
If it's more serious than that I may just sell the thing as-is for someone else to try their luck with a £300 patch-up, but I'm not keen.
Any suggestions for repair shops in central or west London gratefully received.

I second that recommendation. David is a very helpful guy, he repaired a problem I had with a Young Dac.

I've not used this person but he is based in Bolton & lists Cyrus as a brand he can repair.

Hi - just wondered how you got on with this? I have an old CD8 that skips on every track and again don't fancy paying the standard £300 Cyrus service fee - just not economic, but don't like throwing things away on eBay for spares..

Just wondered what the cost was if you did take it to the chap in Wimbledon..

Cheers,
Rich

Thanks Paul - did you post your Xpower, or drop it off? I'm down in London and don't tend to travel up to that part of the country, so am hoping to find somewhere a little more local. Definitely keen to know what Mike charges though - although I guess that's going to depend on the nature of the repair.
