Maro
I managed to get a data sheet in english from the manufactures website
http://www.baaske-medical.de/media/cont ... _Rev.9.pdf
This unit is designed to provide what is called galvanic isolation between its input and its output.
What that means in reality is that instead of the wiring going directly from input to output there are 4 small RF ( radio frequency) transformers in the unit .These will allow the high frequency data bits on their primary winding (input) to induce an equivalent high frequency data bit signal on their secondary winding (output).
The transformers provide 100% physical and thus electrical isolation between the input signal and output signal so no Leakage current or Low frequency signal component can pass through the box.
It will provide isolation between the two units connected to it.
In the audio environment the major benefit will be the elimination of any low frequency component (Mains hum etc) passing from the output of the sending equipment or its cable ( mains or similar signals induced in it from adjacent signal or mains cables) to the input of the receiving equipment.
There may be other benefits depending on how clever they have been with the design of the little RF transformers.
Your source looks like a retailer. You may find the company have an outlet via an electronic component distributor where the unit might be cheaper
Ian

Hello Ian
Thanks for the info
I'll manage to have for test and report back
Some network on MRI use this component

Hello Folks
Weird enough , but it works .. with my cheap Cat 6 RJ45

I think I'm correct in stating that DAVE incorporates full galvanic isolation anyway. I know my 2Qute does.

Hello guys
Not possible for review , because it's a subjective issue
to be fare , from the melco to the lumin u1 , it's not a change
However , from the CAPS to the Lumin U1 , there is a change
Whether it's my mind or no , i won't state anything
@ David
yes the chord dave is isolated for the usb
but the rj45 isolation is for the music streamer
cheers

I would have thought that it would have been enough that any LAN borne interference would be blocked at the DAC stage.

Does it matter if it's 'noisy' before it hits the DAC?

Hello David
There has been a lot of debate on the noise from the RJ45 , and some folks on computer audiophile , found a way to turn down the phenomenon
They used some fibre optics in a router .. but that seems to far fetched for me
But loads of forumers state that there is a difference when noise is taker down from RJ45
So , I think that David is right

On the otherhand , I have experimented several scenarios with the DAVE
I'll resume
1. I have a preference for the AES EBU input compared to the USB
2. With Roon installed on the CAPS, the implementation of the RJ45 cleaner , sounded better , even if I'm not a roon believer
3. Using the Melco as source via USB on the DAVE , there was NO change with or without the RJ45 cleaner

Is it snake ol , well I don't know
But it does work on non galvanised systems
And for less than 90 quids , it's Worth testing

All that said , I have never been a hard core cable believer ..
But you all know how this hobby sharpens our taste for upgrades , fine tunning etc ..

Cheers

Ive had a quick look at RS and Farnell and they do not appear to stock this. They both have a variety of USB and RJ 45 filters in Development board (PCB) form so requiring a bit of work to make them useable.
email the manufacturer to find out if they have a UK distributor ?

Hello
I experimented something weird
I used the filters on the Aurender n100
The music is stored in the Aurender , and music goes via USB to the Chord Dave
Guess what : it sounds clearer .. and different , despite the fact that the RJ45 is simply connecting the n100 to the internet box . I would have thought that there would be no difference
It's weird
Cheers

Have you tried it without any internet connected at all?
Just usb to dave
