High res download sites

Postby phlppip » Fri Oct 06, 2017 11:17 am

For the past couple of years or so I have spent a fortune on high res downloads from qobuz and HD tracks. So my question is does anyone have any other site . Recommendations of sites that may be cheaper?

Here's one I wasn't aware of, none other than Onkyo:

https://www.onkyomusic.com/#/US/home

As well as high-res and CD quality files, they've just signed a deal with three major Japanese music labels to distribute their MQA libraries too - https://www.soundandvision.com/content/ ... ese-labels.

I've made purcheses from this site, but no idea how legit:

https://www.highresaudio.com/en

They are based in Germany so should be ok. They offer CD quality downloads and many cd's also have high res versions.

this is a helpful thread, but apart from specific offers from each website it does seem the same high res "classics" are roughly the same price on all of these mentioned so far.
Nothing has struck me as cheaper?

I guess the thing to remember is that the prices set are mostly what the punters will pay, and nothing much to do with the actual costs involved. Even the artist royalties don't figure much in the pricing (e.g.Itunes downloads pay the artist 9 cents per track. That's only around a dollar per album)

I found the following interesting:
http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/technology/2005/12/the_right_price_for_digital_music.html

(the same applies to e-books, where virtually all the incremental costs are the authors royalties)
Win10 PC with Asset UPnP server/BubbleUPnP app on Android tablet
AG1500 regenerator/StreamXSig->DAC XPSig(with PSX-R2)->Bryston 4BSST2->KEF Reference 3~2
