Hello
My name is DAVE , Chord Dave .. you know this do you ?
Thanks to Kipper , I had the opportunity to see the beast , and midlife crisis was the perfect "aliliby" for my conscience ..
then jumped into a boat , travelled the road less taken .. and bought the DAVE
My friends locally think that I like the boxes , the aluminium cases , more than I fancy music .. there may be some truth in this
The DDDAC of mine , was consctructed by Doede himself , and has served me for the past 2 years . I have absolutely nothing to say about it's ability to give a sense to music ..
Guess what .. i had no need for a DAC , but the virus is in here , as the worm in the apple
I did not want a change of flavour , I wanted a drastic change in my hearing experience ..
And you know about the law of diminishing cost ..
I would nervously say that that I was attracted by the looks of the DAVE .. did not even to bother searching around the web for reviews etc .. just went for it
It came .. got connected via USB to the Auralic Aries
Euh ... it's a new world , a new dream .. new music from my old tracks ..
More to come ...

Re: A night with Dave : Chord Dave
If it's an improvement on the Hugo TT I am very jealous. I'd demo one but there seems little point as I can't afford it!

Re: A night with Dave : Chord Dave
Hello
I have been using the Dave for some time now , and I have been able to test it against
1. Eximus
2. DDDAC
3. Belcanto DAC 3
4. Chord Hugo
Difficult to describe , but it's something which is way off everything I've heard
The most simple thing to say is that it's totally natural and foottapping
I'll write more , and really Worth to listen to ..
I think that this is the last DAC of my life ...
BUT there's always a BUT
As a headphone amp to HD800 .. well it's not my cup of tea (it's a bit hard to listen to)
Cheers

For those interested....
The designer and owner of the products contribute all the time here. The Hugo 2 shares a lot with Dave.

Hello
Just read the article
Seems that the DAVE is as good as the Hugo 2 .. that's good news (the last sentence)
We'll have to listen to these products to make our mind
Euh is a 2000 pounds stuff the same as a 8000 quids one ?
The last sentence is quite in the same sense ..
Cheers

There's a deal of sales talk there I think.
But I think the Hugo 2 is getting the benefit of trickle down from Dave.

I'm sure that the Hugo and Dave sound exactly the same...
Or not. Depends on which one you've just shelled out on...

Re: A night with Dave : Chord Dave
Mr Watts tends to get excited about his latest product. Chord surely wouldn't allow Hugo 2 to sound better than DAVE.
It's all subjective anyway. I've heard some people prefer the QBD to DAVE, some don't. I preferred Hugo TT to QBD, etc.

Lol
Tooooo late for me , I got totally trapped
But that's not the game .. It sounds terrific to my ears
So it's a keeper ..
And I do hope that the Hugo2 is that good , because the DAVE sounds very very good
Sooner or later , there will be multitude of tests , reviews etc... but is hifi about this ?
Personnally I have always bought things upon recommendation of fellows I trust
And of course , about my likes for boxes LOL
But this time , there's nothing for me to ponder ..
And this hobby has been for me a quest for musical and visual delight , not about snobisme or upgrades at any costs ..
Anyone wants me to bring the Dave for a bake off ?
Cheers
