Tannoy Eaton Legacy standmount speakers

Postby hifinutt » Sat Dec 29, 2018 6:04 pm

Had a friend around today and we just listened again to the Eaton legacy . these are a modest standmount that tannoy have ressurected from past . they have real grunt and image so beautifully . all but one of the folks who have been here have loved them and they are highly recommended if you want a good standmount with zero boom issue that can be relatively inconspicuous

Very nice speakers if you can live with them aesthetically.
Good review link, thanks.

yes , i use them with the grills and they are fine , very good waf , especially as they are substantially smaller than many other speakers i have in there . you could listen to them for hours and unlike many other speakers they are very balanced in sound

hifinut, you have harbeth, and the impulses, do you need a third set of speakers, is one of the others going to be moved on?

I think his signature can't keep up with the changes! Use it for guidance only. ;D

ah now , got 3 systems on the go . the impulse taus are just AWESOME with some firebottle mono`s and are my main listening . they have huge sense of space

the Tannoy eatons are in the lounge and are not conspicuous like so many predecessors eg martin logan summit x , focal diablo etc . they are a delightful speaker and an ex CU member was here recntly enjoying them greatly

The harbeth p3esr are in a third system with a rotel amp and mainly for listening over meals etc

truly a speaker nutcase i am afraid !!!! :D :D

Another 6 months with these marvellous speakers . using the msb class A power amp with bc pre 3vbs and such a BIG sound with a huge soundscale . continue to be very impressed . very enjoyable and using a 20 year plus old rotel as a transport and a dac from teac which cost peanuts

very persuasive vid, particularly using the fall album as an example
They are £3k speakers so i would expect them to sound like honey, and major on 3D.

Yes I saw that. A very interesting loudspeaker brand, they certainly get great reviews. I've never heard them but I'm going to be down in the Elite Audio showroom next week I think so I'll report back if I'm lucky enough to hear a set in action.

yes as you know i bought a pair of rienzi in 2016 , marvellous speaker in that it sounds very organic and natural . the woofer can be forward facing or rear which makes it flexible . sadly like much of my kit it had to be sold to pay for repairs [ hence recent sales of kit] and i really am sad about that .

https://hifiwigwam.com/forum/topic/112230-verity-audio/

however the tannoy eaton are also very good and have possibly a bit more bass slam with their 10inch drivers , they also have similar imaging but for sheer ethereal texture the verity take some beating

for some years i have nagged verity to show them at shows in UK and i am hoping now elite have done so that may happen
